South Africa’s 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup Bid Committee continues to do their work as they lay the building blocks for the country’s drive to bring the global tournament to this part of the world in four years time.

Bid Committee chairperson Tumi Dlamini and Bid Lead Russell Paul met with Northern Cape Premier Zamani Saul and the provincial government to discuss the role that the province can play in the country’s plan to host the FIFA Women’s World Cup in 2027.

Dlamini and Paul have been working tirelessly since the South African Football Association (SAFA) announced their appointments as the chairperson and Bid Lead of the country’s 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup Bid Committee on 18 June 2023. They led a SAFA delegation to the Northern Cape that presented South Africa’s bid plans to the Premier and his provincial government.

“We presented the progress of the Bid, what we have done so far, and the way the province and the city can participate as we continue to work towards a common goal, in the tournament and the events leading up to the event,” the Bid Committee chairperson said.

“The Premier and the provincial government are very much in support of what South Africa’s 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup Bid stands for with regards to inspiring the advancement of women’s issues, empowerment and the pay parity issues, and inspiring women to be more involved in sport, but also other endeavours and positions of leadership.”
