Soweto will be abuzz this weekend with a high-stakes instalment of the Soweto Derby taking centre stage as Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs do battle at FNB Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The highly anticipated Betway Premiership encounter has drawn widespread attention with match tickets selling out within hours of going on sale. As is always the case when the two giants of South African football clash, a hive of activity is expected around the stadium precinct.
To ensure an uncomplicated match day experience, event organisers, along with other stakeholders, have banded together to employ several measures to streamline access, enhance safety and keep the spectacle on the pitch as the main focus.
Stadium Admission
Kick-off is at 15:00 with gates at the stadium open at 10:00. Supporters are encouraged to arrive early to avoid delays caused by congestion closer to kick-off.
All tickets for the match have been sold out, and none will be available at the venue. Only valid tickets presented via the MyTickets app or the website will be accepted at the gate, with no printouts or screenshots allowed.
To confirm that you have the latest version of the app, please visit the Google Play Store or Apple App Store, search for the MYTICKET app, and check for any available updates.
General ticket holders can access the stadium through several entry gates, while Gate C is open only to hospitality ticket holders.
Before arriving at the stadium, please ensure that you have signed up on the MYTICKET app and can view your tickets under the “My Bookings” tab. For ease of access, we strongly recommend adding your ticket to your mobile wallet.
Free Wi-Fi will be available at all entry and verification points at FNB Stadium. The Wi-Fi network is called FAN-Support WiFi and will not require a password. This service will provide users with 5 minutes of free Wi-Fi to retrieve their tickets if needed.

Road Closures and Restrictions
Soweto Highway between Mentz Street and the N1 on ramp will be reserved for buses and authorised vehicles, while Cronwood Road and the Booysens Reserve area are restricted to authorised access.
Available Transport Options
There are several public transport options on offer on the day, with the Gautrain, Rea Vaya, and the official Park and Ride Service all on board to reduce traffic congestion in routes leading to the stadium.
Gautrain Shuttle Service: Spectators travelling to Soweto via the Gautrain can make use of a free shuttle bus service from Park Station to the match venue, and the same service can be used via the same route after the match. The service is subject to presenting a valid match ticket.
Parking at the Gautrain station is available for only R1, while standard parking tariffs apply if the train is not used.
The shuttle service will operate from 9:00 to 19:30 with the last bus scheduled to depart FNB Stadium at 19:00, while the last train will leave Park Station at 20:30.
Rea Vaya: Another option to make use of is the Rea Vaya Bus Service, operating from several locations in and around Johannesburg. Coverage includes Sandton, Alexandra, Cresta, Florida North, Johannesburg CBD, Braamfontein, Yeoville, Soweto, and the Ellis Park precinct from Johannesburg Stadium. The stadium service will open at 10:00 with return services scheduled to operate until 20:00.
A valid travel card priced at R40 is required, while fares start at R14 in Soweto, Park Station, and Ellis Park, and R19 at Sandton and Alexandra.
Soweto Derby Park and Ride: The official Park and Ride Service will begin operations at 12:00 with buses departing from Clearwater Mall, Montecasino, Sandton City, and Gold Reef City. Return buses will start departing the stadium at 18:00.
Tickets for this service can be purchased in advance on MyTicket, and no physical tickets are available at any of the departure points. Costs range between R185 and R245, with this package inclusive of return transport and secure parking.
Minibus Taxis: Taxis will also be operational on normal routes with drop-offs and pick-ups made at designated areas around FNB Stadium. Supporters are urged to follow official guidance to not attempt to access taxis along restricted routes.
Private Transport
Should one opt to use private transport, a valid match ticket is required along with a parking ticket that can be purchased via the MyTickets app. Those without either one of these will not be allowed into the stadium precinct.
Checks will take place at major intersections leading to the stadium, and vehicles without access will be turned away at these points.
For a hassle-free match day experience, all supporters are urged to plan before making their way to the stadium and to use the public transport services on offer.
