The Executive Mayor of the City of Johannesburg, Cllr. Thapelo Amad, is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Floyd Brink as the new City Manager of the City of Johannesburg.
Mr Brink is a former Chief Operations Officer (COO) of the City having served in the role from August 2018 on a four-year contract and having acted as City Manager since the departure of the former City Manager in February 2021.
“The appointment of Mr Brink signifies the beginning of an era of bringing certainty and stability to the City by filling critical management positions which had been left vacant for a considerable period. The City has been without a City Manager, Chief Operations Officer and Group Chief Financial Officer for a considerable period of time. These are three critical positions in the life and work of the City that have been irresponsibly left vacant by the previous administration, jeopardising the City’s administrative capacity and service delivery” said Mayor Amad.
“As a consummate professional, Mr Brink’s leadership qualities, management skills and experience will prove invaluable in our quest to stabilise the finances of the City, accelerate service delivery, find solutions to the energy crisis and help create jobs” added Mayor Amad.
The Executive Mayor wishes Mr Brink well in his new role and is confident that working with him, the Government of Local Unity (GLU) will be able to make decisive advances towards the realisation of the World Class African City envisioned in our Growth and Development Strategy (GDS 2040).
