TS Galaxy secured a come-from-behind 2-1 win over Maritzburg United in a DStv Premiership match at the Harry Gwala Stadium on Friday night.

The win elevated the Rockets to the ninth spot on the league standings as they snapped their nine-match winless run in the competition, while the Team of Choice remained 16th on the log.

The Rockets got off to a bright start with Djakaridja Traore looking lively as the focal point of their attack – dominating his aerial battles and making good runs into the opposition’s box.

Unfortunately, the Ivorian striker scored at the wrong end when he turned home Keagan Ritchie’s well-taken free-kick to hand Maritzburg a 1-0 lead in the 38th minute.

However, Traore made amends two minutes later as he found the back of the net to make it 1-1 with Lindokuhle Mbatha providing the assist and the score was level at the interval.

Traore continued to create problems for the Team of Choice after the restart with the hosts’ defence struggling to contain the 24-year-old talented marksman.

Galaxy took the lead for the first time on the night in the 77th minute when Traore hit the back of the net to make it 2-1 after some good work by Mike Sebelebele.

Coach Fadlu Davids reacted by introducing attackers Reagan van der Ross and Friday Samu in the 82nd minute, but the visitors stood firm at the back and Galaxy emerged as 2-1 winners.
