UMLAZI TO HOST MDC ‘DERBY FESTIVAL’ NEXT WEEK
King Zwelithini Stadium in Umlazi, Durban will host the highly-anticipated MultiChoice Diski Challenge ‘Derby Festival’ next weekend, Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 November 2017.
The ‘derby festival’ features a total of six derbies: ‘iKapa Derby’ (Cape Town City vs Ajax Cape Town), ‘Tshwane Derby’ (SuperSport United vs Mamelodi Sundowns ), ‘KZN Derby’ (Lamontville Golden Arrows vs Amazulu FC), ‘Limpopo Derby’ (Polokwane City vs Baroka FC), ‘Free State Derby’ ( Bloemfontein Celtic vs Free State Stars) and the ‘Soweto Derby’ ( Orlando Pirates vs Kaizer Chiefs ).
The King Zwelithini Stadium is no stranger to hosting MultiChoice Diski Challenge. The venue has recorded some of the highest number of spectators in MDC in the last three seasons.
The Premier Soccer League together with partners MultiChoice have appealed to supporters to once again come in numbers to watch the ‘Derby Festival’.
Entry is free on both days but members of the public will be issued with a ticket for access control. Tickets will be available at the stadium’s ticket office on Thursday and Friday (9 & 10 November) from 13h00- 18h00. Only two tickets will be allocated per person on a first-come-first-served basis.
Cape Town City and Ajax Cape Town will kick-off proceedings on Saturday morning at 10h00. This fixture will be followed by the Tshwane derby between SuperSport United and defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns at 12h00.
The last match of the day will be between KZN rivals, Lamontville Golden Arrows and Amazulu FC at 14h00.
On Sunday, Polokwane City will kick-off proceedings against Baroka FC at 10h00, followed by the Free State derby between Bloemfontein Celtic and Free State Stars at 12h00. At 14h00 Orlando Pirate will play arch-rivals Kaizer Chiefs.
