ZODWA KHOZA FOUNDATION SCORES BIG

A Soweto based Zodwa Khoza Foundation Skills and Entrepreneurial Development Centre was toast of town last week after it bagged a massive sponsorship of Podcast and netball equipment, thanks to the giant Mzansi’s multinational corporation and major mobile telecommunications provider MTN and the five-time MTN8 champions Orlando Pirates.

The event attracted Khoza family members, football legends, nearby senior citizens communities. pirates players and schools who came in numbers to show support for this fast growing non-profit company that provides among other things ongoing support to child and elderly-headed households in and around Diepkloof, Soweto, Cosmo City and the Vaal areas.

On the sidelines Bongani Ntshingila, MTN Sponsorship and Events Manager told journalists, they care more about people’s  needs and  not the money.

“What is happening here is testament to appreciation the work done by the Zodwa Khoza Foundation.”

Zodwa Khoza was the daughter of Orlando Pirates football club chairperson Irvin Khoza, and also the club’s brand manager.  

She passed on in 2006 at the age of 30.

MTN’S GOALS FOR CHARITY INITIATIVE CREATES LASTING IMPACT BEYOND THE PITCH

 MTN8 continues to make a profound difference off the field through its Goals for Charity initiative, reinforcing MTN’s belief that real change starts from within. In partnership with five-time MTN8 champions Orlando Pirates, MTN has proudly donated R80 000 to the Zodwa Khoza Foundation (ZFK), a foundation dedicated to uplifting communities through education, healthcare, and social welfare. This contribution is a testament to MTN’s commitment to breaking down barriers and making it easier for people to take their next big step – both on and off the field.

“We chose to partner with the Zodwa Khoza Foundation because of their unwavering commitment to sustainable development, especially their focus on empowering vulnerable communities, particularly women and children,” said Thandi Merafe, media officer at Orlando Pirates Football Club. “We share a vision of creating lasting change, and this collaboration helps us further that mission.”

Now in its eighth year, the Goals for Charity initiative ensures that every goal scored in the MTN8 tournament translates into real-life impact. This year, Orlando Pirates’ performance on the field directly contributed to advancing ZFK’s mission of empowering vulnerable communities, particularly women and children.

The Zodwa Khoza Foundation, established in honour of the late Zodwa Khoza, delivers vital services to communities, including educational support, healthcare, and social welfare programs. Sanele Khoza, Communications Director at the Zodwa Khoza Foundation, said “This donation is a significant step in helping us expand our reach and continue providing essential services to those in need.”

The Premier Soccer League (PSL) has long recognised the power of football to drive social good. Speaking at the donation handover, Nonhlanhla Nkosi, Head: Brand Marketing, Media & Sponsorship at Premier Soccer League (PSL), emphasized the league’s ongoing commitment to using football as a platform for positive change. “Football has the power to open doors and drive meaningful change. Today is a testament to that, and with the support of sponsors like MTN, we will continue to create and inspire positive transformation.”
