JOBURG MARKET DONATES 400 FOOD PARCELS TO NANCEFIELD HOSTEL FLOOD VICTIMS

Members of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) for Economic Development Cllr Nkululeko Mbundu and Human Settlements MMC Cllr Mlungisi Mabaso handed over fruit and vegetable parcels to residents of the Nancefield Hostel and informal settlement in Soweto today, 15 November 2022.

The MMCs along with City officials from the Department of Economic Development and Human Settlements visited the area again after the flooding this past weekend, which left more than 300 families displaced.

The fruit and vegetable parcels were supplied by the Joburg Fresh Produce Market, an entity of the Department of Economic and the largest fresh produce market in Africa.

“We thereby wish to thank the Joburg Market for the donations and continued support in serving the various communities across the City’s regions. As the Multi-Party Coalition Government, we strive to deliver quality and timeous services to the 6 million residents of Johannesburg,” said MMC Mbundu.

MMC Mabaso added that: “We will engage one another as MMCs as well as our other colleagues on the Mayoral Committee to find sustainable and long-term solutions for the affected residents and others across Johannesburg.”
