Orlando Pirates, sensation Relebohile Mofokeng, the winner of the Gauteng Sport Awards Sports Personality of the Year 2024, received a brand-new car this afternoon.
The Gauteng MEC for Education, Sport, Arts, Culture, and Recreation, Matome Chiloane, presented the award-winning young footballer with a new VW vehicle, sponsored by Joma Sport, a leading sports clothing and footwear brand.
Mofokeng was named Sport Personality of the Year at the 13th edition of the Gauteng Sport Awards, where he was nominated alongside notable athletes – Akani Simbine, Dricus Du Plessis, Tatjana Smith, and Ronwen Williams.
While presenting Mofokeng with his prize, MEC Chiloane shared a few words in recognition of the young star’s exceptional talent, which has captured the admiration of football supporters.
“Your talent, hard work, dedication, and humility have brought you to this moment. This sends an important message to many young people in Gauteng and across the country. It also reflects how much the public values you, having voted for you ahead of some big names in sports – especially at the beginning of your professional career. You have earned this recognition through your effort and commitment; you deserve it and must enjoy it,” said MEC Chiloane.
Additionally, MEC Chiloane expressed gratitude to Joma Sport for their generous sponsorship of the car for the Gauteng Sport Awards, which aim to acknowledge, reward, and promote sports excellence in Gauteng, the Home of Champions.
“It is through partnerships like these that we can collectively uncover and nurture the abundant talent across our province, especially among the youth.
