South Africa’s premier time attack motor racing series, the Vilaca Racing Time Attack Series is back with its 2025 Championship, and is calling on all car enthusiasts to join this ultimate high-performance competition.
Vilaca Racing’s Time Attack Championship is South Africa’s ultimate platform for competitive track driving, offering an adrenaline-pumping experience where drivers race against the clock. Unlike traditional racing formats, Time Attack focuses solely on the fastest lap times, allowing drivers to push their cars to their limits without the risk of collisions.
The format is simple – race the clock. “We offer classes for every type of car and driver. Whether you’re turbocharged, naturally aspirated, rear-wheel drive, or all-wheel drive, there’s a category for you,” says Jono Vilaca, founder of Vilaca Racing.
While street racing and drag racing is a common hobby for many South Africans, illegal drag racing is known to be linked to a rise in road accidents and fatalities.
“Vilaca Racing Time Attack is a track racing championship designed to create an environment where motorsport and car enthusiasts can push their limits, test their driving talent and skills, have fun, and celebrate motor racing in a controlled and safe environment,” adds Vilaca.
Whether you’re a seasoned race driver with a fully modified race machine or a first-time racer with a normal street car, now’s your chance to be part of one of South Africa’s fastest-growing race-track and time attack movement.
Registration for the 2025 Championship takes place on Saturday, 22 February, at Bridgestone SA Head Office in Midrand, and guarantees a complete vehicle safety inspection, sponsor merchandise from Bridgestone and other sponsor specials from Motul, Rockstar Roofing, EG Evolved as well as an opportunity to compete in the six-round time-attack racing championship.

This is your opportunity to sign up for the six-round series, with the first round taking place at Red Star Raceway in Delmas on Saturday, 8 March 2025. Registration for the full year is R1,590 per driver.

· Safety Gear: A helmet in good condition

Where Do We Race?
The series predominantly takes place in Gauteng, with events hosted at some of the country’s most iconic race circuits, including Red Star Raceway, Zwartkops Raceway, and the Formula-K SA Circuit.
