Gogo’s glee after getting a title deed

An octogenarian Gogo is on cloud nine and keen to face death anytime from now onwards.
This comes after securing the long overdue house title deed.
Maria Sibanda, an 87 year old from Drieziek , south of Johannesburg was one of the beneficiaries during the title deed roll out launch in Johannesburg Region, held in Braamfischerville.
Sibandatold this publication that,shenever thought this day will come while still alive.
“I will die peacefully knowing Iam the owner of my house I can now die peacefully knowing that my dream has come true,” She said.
The pale looking and tearful Sibanda counted her blessings and said, “ A year ago I received my own house in Drieziek and today I am getting the title deed to prove that I am the rightful owner of my property.”
Speaking at the event, MEC for Human Settlements, Paul Mashatile said more than 2000 title deeds are ready to be issued.
He reminded the packed hall that, a title deed is alegal document and proof that the beneficiary is a rightful owner of that piece of land and the house built on it.
“Government is giving residents assets for a life for themselves and their families,” Mashatile argued.
The MEC also revealed that besides issuing tittle deeds the Provincial government is going to allocate service stands to the people who can build for themselves.
“We will build roads, connect electricity, water and sewer to ensure that people who can afford do not wait for government when they can build for themselves.
“A title deed is very important, it is a surety. You can go to the bank and produce it as proof that indeed you own a piece of land and you can apply for a loan to extend your house and beautify it,” said MEC
He also told the community some certain sections in Braamfischerville needs to be proclaimed so that government can issue title deeds.
“We are engaging the city of Johannesburg to ensure that the gravel roads in other part of the township in Braamfischerville are tarred” he said.
