CELL C SUPPORTS THE NSPCA TO HELP ANIMALS AFFECTED BY THE GARDEN ROUTE FIRES

Cell C has made a contribution towards the NSPCA (National Council of SPCAs) to be used for animals affected by the recent devastating Garden Route fires, particularly in Knysna and its surrounds.
Teams from the NSPCA were dispatched to the areas to provide assistance to injured, burnt, displaced and hungry and thirsty animals and domestic pets. Some were given veterinary care and others removed to places of safety. The regional SPCA is also helping with the rescue of wild birds, treatment of burnt tortoises and assistance to farm animals.
Cell C donated R50 000 as part of its on-going Random Acts of Kindness campaign to assist the NSPCA with the continued provision of veterinary care, food and water. A further R121 776.33 was raised through Cell C customers donating R25 to the NSPCAs short code 38018. Cell C waivered their service fees on the premium rated SMS donation line, ensuring the full amount reaches the NSPCA.

As headline sponsor of the Miss South Africa pageant, we got behind Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters’ drive and raised R600 000 for the Knysna/Garden Route fire relief initiative. We also donated airtime and cellphone charging stations for the relief and fire workers. Our staff volunteered and donated loads of goods and cash for two staff members who lost their homes.”
