AmaZulu FC secured a 2-1 win over Bloemfontein Celtic in an Absa Premiership match at the Dr Molemela Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The victory took Usuthu to the 12th spot on the league standings, while Phunya Sele Sele remained ninth on the table.

Usuthu contained Phunya Sele Sele, who were pushing for an early goal, in the opening stages of the encounter.

However, Celtic managed to open the scoring on the half-hour mark following a good move by Lehlohonolo Seema’s men.

Lucky Baloyi set-up Siphelele Luthuli, who beat AmaZulu goalkeeper Neil Boshoff to make it 1-0 to Celtic.

Josef Vukusic’s men fought back and they did restore parity four minutes before the halftime break.

Bonginkosi Ntuli netted his eighth league of the goal to make it 1-1 with Sphesihle Maduna grabbing an assist.

Celtic and AmaZulu were locked at 1-1 at the interval.

Usuthu started the second-half brightly with first-half substitute Bongolezwe Ncube working hard in midfield for the visitors.

The Zimbabwe international managed to hand AmaZulu the lead for the first time just after the hour mark.

Siyethemba Sithebe set-up Ncube, who made no mistake as he beat Jackson Mabokgwane in the Celtic goal-posts to make 2-1 to AmaZulu.

Seema reacted by introducing Mpusana Tani and Rendani Ndou as the hosts looked to grab a late equalising goal.

However, the visitors stood firm at the back in the closing stages of the match and ultimately, AmaZulu emerged 2-1 winners over Celtic.
