ARNOLD CLASSIC AFRICA ENTHRALS KIDS WITH ELECTRIFYING SPORT COMPETITIONS

The Department of Community Development had a resounding start to the renowned Arnold Classic festival when it immersed dozens of school children in the vibrant and exhilarating ambiance of the international sports fiesta. The City’s Kiddies Programme, held on Friday, 19 May at Ruimsig Stadium in Roodepoort, west of Johannesburg, marked the official opening of the weekend long sports festival.

The Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) for Community Development, Councillor Lubabalo Magwentshu inaugurated the kiddies programme with a ribbon-cutting ceremony to officially open the multi-sport festival.

Catering to amateurs, professionals, and the youth alike, the event aims to provide an efficient and effective platform for various sport activities in Johannesburg.

Cllr Magwentshu said exposing children from diverse racial backgrounds to the Kiddies Games contributes positively to social cohesion, which in turn bolsters community development.

By immersing young individuals in different sporting codes, Kiddies Game not only foster growth and development but also ignite hope, inspiring and motivating them from an early age, he added.

“We are here today presenting a golden opportunity for the future leaders of tomorrow to engage in various sporting codes that not only contribute to growth and development but also inspire and motivate them from a young age to participate in different sporting disciplines and instill hope in their lives,” said MMC Magwentshu.

The children participated eagerly in a myriad of thrilling sports competitions, including ball hopping, ball throwing, ball dribbling, 50-meter relay running, bean bag balance, ring throwing, and ball kicking.

Their excitement was further heightened by the presence of ten beloved mascots that resembled their favourite cartoon characters.

Among the City’s regions that participated in the games, Region B stood out as its delightful children graced the Kiddies Games with their infectious smiles and enthusiastic participation.

Wayne Price, Partner, and Director of Arnold Classic described the first day of the three-day event as brimming with a vibrant atmosphere that kick-started the opening of this grand sporting spectacle.

He assured attendees of a remarkable experience at the festival this weekend.

“It is a pleasure to witness a multitude of children engaging in a vibrant celebration of multi-sporting art and culture, showcasing the elements of sport, music, and art that we hold dear. This is what everyone can look forward to this weekend,” said Price.

Enticing festival-goers, he expressed confidence in the fantastic line-up of sporting codes that promised excitement and amusement for the entire family.

The City expects a massive turnout over the next two days, which will add to the allure of the Arnold Classic Africa fest.

The vision behind the Arnold Sport Festival Africa has always been to create an inclusive platform where sports enthusiasts and communities can unite and share their love and passion within one space. This unique experience aims to leave an indelible impression on all participants.

“This mega event contributes to sports and recreation by bringing the joy of sports closer to children and families.
