This spirit is reflected in the return of the 17th edition of the City’s biggest golf event, offering residents the chance to enjoy top-drawer competition right here in their own home City.
In less than two weeks, the international golf tournament, the Joburg Open 2025, returns to the lush lawns of Houghton Golf Club, which is one of the premier golf venues in the country. The course has a proud history as a championship facility, having hosted no fewer than eight SA Open events.
The City is ready to host elite golfers from across the globe and showcase its offerings. Behind-the-scenes preparations are underway, and marketing efforts have been intensified to attract more spectators to this year’s edition of the tournament.
The Joburg Open is co-sanctioned by the Sunshine Tour and DP World Tour. It boasts participation from professional golfers worldwide, making it a prestigious and acclaimed event for both local and international players.
Every year, the Joburg Open brings together an incredible group of golfers, and this year promises to be no different. The excitement kicks off with the Pro-AM on Tuesday 4 March 2025. The winners will be honoured during a prize-giving ceremony at the Houghton Golf Clubhouse. The main tournament commences on Thursday 6 March 2025. It takes place over four days. The final is on Sunday, 9 March 2025.
The entities in the City of Johannesburg have once again worked together to make this tournament possible. Johannesburg Road Agency, Johannesburg Water, Emergency Management Services, Johannesburg Metro Police Department and City Power each play a vital role in the success of the tournament. This collaboration ensures the tournament runs smoothly and highlights the strength of teamwork within the City.
