If you are still in slumber land, bored, resting on your laurels wishing to visit a rollicking happy weekend catch a wake up and prepare yourself to hop to the Mzansi’s famous fun filled Soweto Kota Festival .
This is one of the biggest leisure event on Mzansi’s Entertainment calendar that promotes lifestyle annual kasi food, a proudly South African township “Street food”.
This blockbuster event is happening this Saturday 7th September 2024 at a bigger and better venue-Fun Valley, south of Johannesburg.
Organisers have promised that this 7th edition popular event will be bigger and better and surpass the previous editions.
At a recent launch and media engagement held at Ubuntu Kraal in Soweto, Premium and flagship brand sponsors and media partners were publicised and they made it clear they were ready to deliver a five star treatment and entertainment to every reveller and fun loving people and their families.
Stephanie Hoy, Blue Ribbon Marketing Executive was on cloud nine as usual and said this event is an award winning event.
“What an amazing way to start heritage month. This event is growing in leaps and bounds. People must come in droves and hungry. This is a landmark event that celebrates Kasi culture. For us it’s important and a privilege to participate in communities where we operate. As a brand it’s a way of giving back to communities and support local small businesses. They really need our support and lastly a Kota will not be a Kota without bread.”
Nomsi Mahlathi, of Lucky Star, told this publication they have been part of this event for almost half a decade.
“We are very excited to be part of this milestone event and we want people to come and taste the magic taste of our brands.”
Her colleague, Dimakatso Radebe told this publication on the sidelines this is an opportunity for them to promote and showcase their Luck Star brands and meals.
“We dominate and lead with street food.”
Samukelisiwe Sibiya, Thompson Marketing Manager one of the oldest Durban based company that specialises with a range of convenient ready-to-eat meat products that cater to everyday needs at every occasion said, they are looking forward to meeting new and old consumers.
“Our brands are always growing in leaps and bounds and in demand. “Kota festival provides us with a platform to promote and showcase our brands to consumers. In the past we have witnessed a great demand and appreciation of our brands and this is happening everyday and in every corner of our society.”
Sidwell Tshingilani, Kota Festival Founder and Organiser echoed every one’s sentiment. “This blockbuster food festival is going to be bigger and better at a bigger venue.
“The line up is hectic and is going to be much better this year.”
Tshingilani also made mention they were looking to roll out a park and ride system due to a popular demand and to tackle parking logistics.
“We are looking to host at least more than 15 000 visitors. Last year we hosted and entertained 9000 on the first day and 7000 on the second day respectively.”
Egolijozinews conducted an informal snap survey in Soweto about this upcoming event.
One Khumalo family said in melodious fashion , they have been to all the past Kota Festivals.
