Orlando
Pirates midfielder cum-striker, Thembinkosi Lorch finally handed over a R10 000
donation cheque to a Non Profit Organisation, Ikageng Itireleng home in Orlando
West, Soweto.
The
generous gesture was part of his Man-of-the-Match winning prize requisite during
the Carling Black Label Cup that took
place back in July.
Ikageng Itireleng is a community based organisation that cares for the orphaned and vulnerable children around Soweto.
Lorch
told the media that he comes from a family that likes to help needy people.
“I
learned this gesture from my father and believe the money will go a long way in
helping this home.”
Pressed
why he chose the Orlando based home?
He
said, “ It’s close to our home ground.”
Carol
Dyantyi, Founder and CEO, told this publication they were very excited about
the donation.
“
I am on cloud nine. This country has too many challenges. If corporate is not
making money there is no way they can think of us.”
Khwezi
Vika, Brand Manager for Carling Black Label said this is one home that speaks
to victims of gender based violence.
“As
a leading brand we support all campaigns that are fighting gender based
violence,” Vika argued.
