NEDBANK BACKS THE 15TH GLOBAL EDITION OF THE DISTINGUISHED GENTLEMAN’S RIDE, BRINGING RENEWED MOMENTUM TO MEN’S HEALTH AWARENESS IN SOUTH AFRICA

The Distinguished Gentlemen’s Ride returns for its 15th global edition on Sunday, 17 May 2026, uniting thousands of riders across more than 900 cities and 110 countries in a shared mission to raise awareness and funds for men’s mental health and prostate cancer research.

Known as one of the world’s most distinctive and visually iconic charity rides, participants don classic and vintage-style motorcycles while dressed in their finest tailored attire to unite in support of a cause that continues to impact men globally.

In South Africa, the ride marks its 15th year, with Johannesburg and Cape Town once again serving as key participating cities. Nedbank returns as a proud partner for the third consecutive year, reinforcing its commitment to communities that value purposeful living, wellbeing, and meaningful connection.

The event aligns strongly with Nedbank’s purpose‑driven ethos, reinforcing the brand’s commitment to being ‘money experts who do good’ by actively supporting client wellbeing and meaningful social causes. It also offers a distinctive engagement platform to connect with affluent motorcycle enthusiasts a niche yet high‑value audience while positioning the Nedbank Private value proposition in an authentic, passion‑led environment that resonates beyond traditional financial services interactions.

The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride reflects a growing shift in how success and lifestyle are defined − where achievement is measured not only by what individuals accumulate, but by the impact they choose to make. At its core, the event brings together people who live with intention, valuing both personal passion and collective responsibility, and who recognise that purpose and progress are most powerful when pursued together.

According to, Alan Shannon, Nedbank Private and Wealth Executive: ‘The alignment runs deeper than surface‑level brand affiliation. This is exactly the kind of community we want to be part of − individuals who are deliberate in how they live, build and plan for the future. They are focused on meaningful careers, families and legacies, while remaining grounded in purpose and social impact.’

Through Nedbank Private, the bank positions itself not merely as a private banking and global wealth management services provider, but as an enabler of that lifestyle helping clients navigate complexity with confidence so they can focus their energy on what matters most.

‘Our role is to remove friction from our clients’ financial lives, giving them freedom and certainty to pursue their ambitions, whether that’s the road ahead, their next strategic decision, or the life they are intentionally building,’ Shannon adds.

The scale and substance of the movement underscore its relevance. To date, the Johannesburg and Cape Town editions have attracted more than 12 000 participants, collectively raising approximately R4.12 million for the cause. These funds were directed through Movember, the world’s leading men’s health organisation supporting critical prostate cancer research and global mental‑health programmes.

Over more than a decade, the partnership between the Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride and Movember has remained tightly focused on 2 of the most urgent challenges in men’s health today: prostate cancer and suicide prevention. Together, they continue to fund research and interventions that not only extend lives, but improve their quality − turning awareness into tangible outcomes.

Bruce Allen, CEO at Triumph Motorcycles South Africa – a long‑standing global supporter − highlights the broader significance of the movement: ‘The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride demonstrates the power of community brought together by shared values. It is inspiring to see how style, connection and purpose can combine to create meaningful change.’

As anticipation builds for the 2026 edition, riders across South Africa and around the world are once again preparing to take part driven by a shared commitment to ride with purpose. In doing so, they reaffirm that philanthropy, passion and lifestyle are not mutually exclusive but can coexist as powerful forces for good.

Participants interested in joining the 2026 ride can register via the official Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride platform by selecting their city and beginning their fundraising journey. The event remains open to riders of classic and vintage‑style motorcycles, with distinguished dress proudly worn as a symbol of respect, community and intent.
