GladAfrica Championship’s top two teams, Sekhukhune United and Richards Bay dropped points on matchday 19 of the 2020/21 season.
Sekhukhune succumbed to a surprise 1-0 defeat to a struggling Steenberg United side at the Idas Valley Sports Ground on Saturday.
While Richards Bay were held to a 0-0 draw by bottom-placed Cape Town Spurs at the Richards Bay Sports Stadium on Sunday.
As a result, Sekhukhune are placed at the top of the league standings – level on points with second-placed Richards Bay, who have two games in hand.
Free State Stars remained sixth on the log after drawing 1-1 with Cape Umoya United at the Goble Park Stadium on Sunday.
At the Parow Park Stadium, the University of Pretoria climbed up to eighth place on the table after claiming a 2-1 victory over Cape Town All Stars.
Saturday saw promotion hopefuls, Royal AM and TS Sporting recording victories.
Royal remained third on the standings after securing a 2-0 victory over Bizana Pondo Chiefs at the King Goodwill Zwelithini Stadium.
At the Giant Stadium, Sporting climbed up to position four after claiming a 3-1 victory over JDR Stars, who are placed fifth on the log and it was their fourth successive league victory.
While Jomo Cosmos came back to hold fellow former top-flight club, Polokwane City to a 1-1 draw with Moeketsi Sekola grabbing the equalising goal at Tsakane Stadium.
Lastly, Uthongathi FC and Pretoria Callies drew 0-0 at the Princess Magogo Stadium in the middle of the table clash.
