Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies capped off a memorable Hollywoodbets Super League season with a 2-0 win over the University of the Western Cape (UWC) in their final game of the season at Lucas Moripe Stadium on Sunday.
Goals from Andisiwe Mgcoyi and Lehlogonolo Mashigo secured maximum points for the Brazilians, allowing them to finish the season on a high note. Following the match, the team was presented with the Hollywoodbets Super League title in a celebratory ceremony.
Andisiwe Mgcoyi, visibly elated after the match, shared her thoughts: “This victory means so much to us as a team. It is the result of hard work, dedication and the continuous support of our supporters throughout the season. Scoring in the final game of the season and contributing to this win is a moment I will cherish for a long time. Now, we will take a moment to enjoy this success before setting our sights on new challenges ahead.”
Mashigo praised the team’s fighting spirit, which saw them enjoy an incredible league campaign, saying, “Our journey this season has been nothing short of remarkable. The fighting spirit within this team is what carried us through every challenge we faced. There were times when things got tough, but we never gave up. We pushed ourselves, motivated one another and stayed focused on our goals. To end the season as champions is a reward for all the hard work and determination we have shown.”
Sundowns Ladies finished the season with a staggering 83 points, 14 points clear of second-placed UWC. The Tshwane giants secured an impressive 27 wins from 30 games, scored 114 goals and conceded only 12, ending the campaign with an incredible goal difference of +102.
Andisiwe Mgcoyi’s strike saw her conclude the season with ten goals. Boitumelo Rabale topped the Sundowns Ladies’ scoring chart with 17 goals, while Nthabiseng Majiya recorded 14 strikes. Miche Minnies ended the season with nine goals, while Rhoda Mulaudzi and Refilwe Tholakele each netted seven.
Lebohang Ramalepe and Melinda Kgadiete scored six goals apiece, with Salome Kekana contributing five. Lelona Daweti, Asanda Hadebe and Karabo Dhlamini each finished with four goals, while Zanele Madonsela and Regina Mogolola registered three goals apiece.
Lehlogonolo Mashigo, Kholosa Biyana, and Khunjulwa Mali ended the season with two goals each, while Cimone Sauls, Malebogo Shawe, Bambanani Mbane, Karabo Makhurubetshi and Nonhlanhla Mthandi each found the back of the net once.
