Believe it or not! At least 17 staff personnel employed by the Gauteng Treasury Department have tested covid-19 positive since the outbreak of this pandemic in the country.

But all of them have since recovered and majority of them are back at work while minority of them are working from home.

This was revealed by the ever indefatigable Department’s  HOD, Nomfundo Tshabalala during the virtual press briefing that followed the presentation of the province’s  Special Supplementary Budget earmarked amongst other things to tackle Covid-19 challenges in the province .

“We ve had covid-19 cases but all of them have since recovered,” Tshabalala revealed.

The HOD also pointed out, her department has had minimal impact in terms of internal operations.

“Treasury has been fully functioning and no services has been interrupted and negatively impacted since the Coronavirus lockdown was imposed. “

Her boss, Finance and e-Government  MEC, Nomantu Nkomo-Ralehoko, also shared the same sentiment and argued that they have learnt a lesson that this pandemic has a psychological effect on everyone.

“Therefore it is important to support each other and follow the prescribed regulations set out  by authorities to protect ourselves.”
