Founded last year by zealous and fervent qualified electrical engineer cum-Fashion designer entrepreneur, Sphamandla Dlamini who decided to swap his hard earned electrical engineering career in favour of inventing retailing a footwear that is slowly mesmerising fashion lovers and will no doubt stand the test of time.
Egolijozinews spoke to Dlamini at the recent 2023 Rand Show where he exhibited an eye-catching display of his line of range sneakers.
This Newcastle born budding fashion designer holds a Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering from Mangosuthu Technikon and University of Johannesburg respectively. He told this reporter fashion was in his genes.
My Grandfather operated a tailor shop from a township garage because there were no opportunities during those days and my father was a sleek dresser of note during his time.
“I guess they unwittingly imparted that fashion passion to me even though I started to fully focus on it at a later stage due to work commitments after obtaining my degree.
Dlamini’s CV also shows that he worked for SABC outside broadcast was also influential and involved in the opening of five retail shops Simoni Exclusive.
At heart I am an entrepreneur passionate about fashion and want doubting thomases to know there are opportunities in the country as long as you take action. It is against this backround that I named my footwear range “YENZA” a Zulu name meaning “commit”
Pressed to explain more about his range he said, “I have developed a convenient high quality unique product that is making a big statement in the footwear market and in future I intend to create a generic brand for the entire African continent that will also inspire other people to take action and do things for themselves and stop relying on imported clothing and footwear line.
“Iam also planning to create an appealing children footwear line. As entrepreneurs we need to take action, make solutions and believe in ourselves . We need to create brands that are closer to us.” Dlamini pointed.
