Re-branded chibuku hits the market

Dozens of celebrities, socialites and a horde of media personalities  converged at Sakhumzi Restaurant situated on the Vilakazi Street in Orlando West, Soweto.

The hype was created by non other than the re-launching of thepopular traditional sorghum brew, Chibuku.

The re-launching of this traditional beer that has stood the test of time created a carnival atmosphere as everyone  celebrated its new look and brand positioning on the night.

Organisers said,the popular traditional sorghum brew has been spruced up and given a spanking new appeal and can now be obtained in different flavours.

On the same evening, Chibuku chefs prepared some deliciously refreshing cocktails to showcase how the new Banana and Pineapple flavours can be enjoyed on a hot summer day, much to the delight of the revellers.

The electric entertainment ran well into the night with the crowd being entertained with music rendered by Sliq Angel, MXO, Candy TsaMandebele, Karabo and Revolution.

Siya Vithi, Head of Marketing of United National Breweries told this publication that,the new look Chibuku oozes the new cool and sophistication.

“It can be mixed up in different variations to create the ultimate summer cocktail. The new flavours of Banana and Pineapple are also trendy.”

On the sidelines, Bryan Davy, MD of United National Breweriestold this reporter that the launch was an appreciation of the traditional beer.

He also revealed that the night belonged to Soweto because the flavoured brands has gone very well in Ekasi and the market was growing everyday.

“We are uplifting the image and getting the product more socially accepted by consumers,” he said.

Davy also pointed out that Chibuku was a traditional, affordable beverage consumed by Africans looking for a high value affordable product.
