27 October 2017 – The South African Football Association (SAFA) Coaching Education department today kicked off its three day Coaching Manual Review and consolidation Workshop. The coaching workshop which has brought together football brains from across the country including Bafana Bafana head coach, Stuart Baxter is aimed at reviewing and improving the various SAFA coaching courses currently being offered by the Association.
SAFA has been on an aggressive nationwide rollout of training coaches from the amateur ranks right up to professional coaches competing at the highest level.
The three-day workshop kicked off with SAFA Technical Director and 1996 AFCON winning captain, Neil Tovey opening the proceedings and outlining the vision of the SAFA Technical Department.
This was followed by Bafana Bafana head coach, Stuart Baxter taking the coaches through the most recent international trends and their implications on the current standards of football.
The coaches were also taken through the reviewed Laws of the Game to ensure that this knowledge if filtered down to their players back home.
“Football is an ever-evolving game. The use of technology, science and sports medicine players a key role in the overall performance of players and that is why it is critical for us to have such workshops and ensure that we are up to date with the latest developments of the game” said SAFA Technical Director, Neil Tovey.
The SAFA Coaching education manual review and consolidation workshop will conclude on Sunday with a sports medicine presentation by SAFA’s Chief Medical Officer, Dr Thulani Ngwenya.
