FNB INTRODUCES GET PAID + INVENTORY-MANAGEMENT APP

Netsai Ngidi

FNB’s new GetPaid+ app is a free comprehensive inventory-management tool designed to streamline business operations for merchants across South Africa. Available on Speedpoint devices, the GetPaid+ app allows merchants to accept payments and manage stock in real-time, providing a one-stop solution for their business needs.

The GetPaid+ app offers a range of features tailored to enhance business efficiency. Merchants can create profiles for their sales staff, set up product categories, and manage product variants such as colours and sizes. The app also allows merchants to upload their product categories and stock levels, ensuring seamless inventory management.

One of the key features of GetPaid+ is its notification system. Merchants can set minimum stock threshold settings and receive alerts when stock levels are low or when a product is out of stock. This proactive approach helps merchants maintain optimal inventory levels and avoid potential sales losses due to stockouts.

In addition to inventory management, GetPaid+ supports both card and cash sales. The app recognizes the prevalence of cash transactions in the economy and provides an in-built calculator to assist with cash sales. Merchants can track cash sales alongside card transactions, enabling comprehensive sales monitoring.

“We’ve seen some small enterprises still using a printed list of products, a calculator, and a PoS device to manage their stock levels. The majority of the SMME merchant base spans over fifty merchant category codes which classify the type of goods and services they sell, with approximately 40% selling physical goods such as groceries, clothing and apparel, fast food, and liquor; industries in which stock management is relevant,” says Netsai Ngidi Product and Solutions Head, at FNB. “So, we’ve taken those tools and more and put them all in the device itself. This is a big step forward for South African SMMEs, but it’s just the beginning. We look forward to incremental enhancements during the course of the year. “

GetPaid+ offers real-time sales reporting on the device, providing valuable insights into sales performance. The app enables merchants to track sales by individual staff members, providing transparency and accountability within the business. The app also offers the flexibility to bulk upload products via a platform, making it convenient for businesses with extensive product catalogues.

Looking ahead, FNB plans to make GetPaid+ an omnichannel solution. While currently available on Speedpoint devices, the bank aims to expand the app’s reach beyond physical stores to online stores and social media sales. The goal is to create a unified platform where all sales channels seamlessly integrate with a single stock-management app.

The GetPaid+ app has already been rolled out to over 20 000 merchants, primarily amongst the SMME base. However, the app’s user-friendly interface and cost-effectiveness have also attracted larger, countrywide retailers seeking a streamlined solution for their inventory-management needs.

“The GetPaid+ app is a game-changer for South African merchants,” concludes Netsai Ngidi. “It simplifies inventory management, streamlines sales processes, and provides valuable insights to help businesses grow at no cost. We are excited to continue innovating and delivering solutions that empower our merchants to succeed in today’s competitive marketplace.”

The GetPaid+ app is readily available for download on FNB SpeedPoint Android devices.
