JOBURG EXECUTIVE MAYOR ANNOUNCES NEW MMCS

Following his election and swearing-in, the Executive Mayor has duly appointed a Mayoral Committee comprised of ten members who are to be sworn-in soon today, 05 May 2023

The new MMC’s were selected after extensive consultations with other political parties, with the aim of solidifying the Government of Local Unity (GLU) partnership in the City. The Councillors appointed to the Mayoral Committee of the City of Johannesburg are the following:

1. Finance: Cllr. Dada Morero

2. Group Corporate and Shared Services: Cllr. Loyiso Masuku

3. Environment and Infrastructure Services: Cllr. Jack Sekwaila

4. Public Safety: Cllr. Mgcini Tshwaku

5. Development Planning: Cllr. Eunice Mgcina

6. Economic Development: Cllr. Nomoya Daphney Mnisi

7. Human Settlements: Cllr. Anthea Natasha Leitch

8. Community Development: Cllr. Lubabalo Magwentshu. 

9 Transport: Cllr. Kenny Kunene

10 Health & Social Development: Cllr. Ennie Makhafola

It is worth noting that the above Mayoral Committee signals continuity and acceleration of service delivery and enhancement for the residents of Johannesburg. 

The new MMC’s previously served in the same portfolios under the former Mayor and return to duty to serve and advance the interests of the residents of Johannesburg.

“We wish to express our sincere apologies for the anxiety and instability the recent events in the City have caused to the residents of Johannesburg. 

We assure you that this Government of Local Unity is committed to maintaining a stable, functional, responsive and services oriented government for the City. The stability and efficient functioning of the City are a priority to us and we will strive to at all times maintain decorum, commitment and diligence in leading the City” said Mayor Gwamanda.

“For the City to achieve its goals, there must be alignment between the GLU mandate and government programmes (IDP, SDBIP) as informed by the Growth and Development Strategy (GDS) 2040. 

As the Government of Local Unity we intend to immediately go back to the basics and serve our residents with diligence and dedication” concludes the Executive Mayor.
